Borrow a kayak for free and help to keep Copenhagen’s waters clean.
Copenhagen is renowned for its harbor which is clean enough for you to swim in it. The non-profit initiative GreenKayak wants to keep it that way and encourage Copenhageners and tourists to contribute by lending out kayaks for free. Part of the deal is that you collect trash in the attached bucket, weigh it when returning and post a pic on social media. This way, GreenKayak – and you – make a difference.
And remember: No piece of trash is too small and despite being clean compared to most (or any other) metropolitan harbors, waste can be collected in many places and nooks in the area and the waste bucket can quickly be filled.
GreenKayak operates with two main offerings:
- Private individuals can book our kayaks free of charge. Typically, we have one or two kayaks at each location, meaning a maximum of four people can paddle together.
- Group tours (often companies). They can book a guided group tour/teambuilding event, where certified kayak instructors lead the group through the day. Up to 20 people can paddle together at a time. If the group is larger than 20, we divide them into smaller groups and include a land-based clean-up activity as well. These tours are paid and take place at our main location: Arsenalvej 10.
